Engaging and understanding R&E communities is critical for the sustainability and relevance of our community. Yet we struggle to understand these stakeholders and their demands. Explore with us, share your experiences, ideas and opinions as we learn about successful approaches to research-engagement and research developments from around the world.
This GÉANT clouds workshop has two sessions. The first explores current GÉANT cloud activity, frameworks, and future plans. The second aligns with SIG-CISS, focusing on sensitive data, infrastructure, and use cases. The joint session delves into NRENs' role in Trusted Research Environments, covering security, privacy, and data confidentiality.
Agenda
9:00-10:30 GÉANT Cloud evolution, Frameworks, Open Science policy landscape, discussion
11:00-13:30 Strategic planning, discussion, future plans, demo about SURF Research Cloud
The Special Interest Group on Marketing and Communications (SIG-Marcomms) meets to explore challenges and opportunities in the marketing communications work in support to the core business of R&E networks around the world. Participants share their experiences and best practices and explore promising opportunities for collaborations.
The agenda for this meeting can be found on SIG-Marcomms wiki page.
This security related workshop brings together security professionals from NRENs and e-infrastructurs to discuss developments and priorities on security management, risk management and incident respons in e-infrastructures. Specifically aimed but not exclusive for members of the WISE and SIG-ISM communities.
The mission of REFEDS (the Research and Education FEDerations group) is to be the voice that articulates the mutual needs of research and education identity federations worldwide. The group represents the requirements of research and education. Come and join us to discuss updates to our annual workplan, working group progress and updates from the identity federation community.
Retaining employees in the aftermath of Covid and amidst severe talent shortages continues to be a challenge for both large and small organisations. In this interactive session, we’ll look at how focusing on things like recognition, career development, well-being and communication can help you to build a positive workplace environment and give your employees reasons to stay. We’ll also discuss how effective Learning & Development and innovative learning strategies can support employee retention.
The GNA-G Network Automation Working group is
established to collaborate on the transformation of NREN networks through network automation and orchestration. Join this meeting to learn, discuss, and share information about network automation, network orchestration and related topics
Our world is changing around us all of the time. The fibre infrastructure we rely on for communication is also able to be used to sense what is going on within the planet. This session will bring interested groups together to discuss all things cable sensing.
The GÉANT Task Force for Educational Activities (TF-EDU) would like to invite you to a pre-TNC24 Conference workshop focussing on both strategic opportunities and challenges, and sharing knowledge and best practice on practical issues related to the delivery of education, both nationally and globally.
The Special Interest Group on Cloud Interoperable Software Stacks (SIG-CISS) gathers community experts in the Cloud domain, and the GÉANT NRENs Cloud engineers, to deal with the implementation of Cloud services, the deployment of Cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on Storage and Computing and to share best practices and experiences.
Join the inaugural Workflow Orchestrator user group meetup at TNC24, hosted by the WFO Partners SURF, ESnet, GEANT, and HEAnet! Join this meeting to engage in discussions among NRENs using WFO. Here, we'll share our successes, insights, and experiences with this tool. All expertise levels are welcome!
The Global Network Advancement Group (GNA-G) gathers worldwide network professionals from R&E Networking organisations to support and enhance continent-to-continent interconnectivity and global science collaboration. Join to learn about GNA-G strategy, the working groups and their recent updates as well as to liaise with other GNA-G members.
Agenda can be found on the GNA-G website.
From sharing intelligence information to collaboratively creating SOCs: we'll take a walk through the initiatives of the LAC regional cybersecurity group that involve collaboration among RedCLARA, CERN and GÉANT to form a coordinated front in the face of growing challenges. Does anyone else want to join or propose new actions?
The annual Mobility Day is a chance for anyone with an interest in eduroam and other roaming initiatives to come together and discuss developments. An agenda for the meeting is available.
The forum will be a space for the NREN community and large science collaborations to discuss on the respective future plans for the next 5 to 10 years. The expected benefit would be for the NRENs to ensure that their plans are fit for the evolution of these scientific projects.

This hands-on workshop will instruct attendees on displaying measurements from perfSONAR in Grafana. Attendees will not only graph standard measurements like throughput and packet loss, but dive into topics like correlations with non-perfSONAR data. Participants will leave with useful skills that can be applied to their own perfSONAR installations.
